Malayalam Computing

Malayalam Computing, a project that helps the common man to get more benefits out of various Internet services like E-mail, Chat, Blog etc. It liberates him or her from the need of thinking in his or her mother tongue and communicating in a foreign language.

Objectives of Malayalam Computing:

  • Strengthening Malayalam language using the possibilities provided by ICT

  • Address the linguistic barrier which prevents the people of Kerala from taking advantage of the new technologies

Government has directed all government department, PSUs and semi government organisations to make use of unicode fonts for all type of computer related activities, vide (G.O.(Ms.)31/2008/ITD), dated 21/8/2008. The standards and guidelines for the use of Malayalam language in government, is provided in www.malayalam.gov.in website. ICFOSS has been engaged as the nodal agency for coordinating the state level activities of Malayalam computing operations, vide (G.O.(Rt.)80/2018/E&ITD).
