ICFOSS is an autonomous institution under the Government of Kerala, established in the year 2008 vide G.O.(Rt.)150/2008/ITD, dated 23.07.2008, mandated with the objectives of coordinating FOSS initiatives within Kerala, as well as linking up with FOSS initiatives in other parts of the world in order to push the agenda for promotion of democratic access to information and knowledge through equitable models of production and distribution of software in particular and knowledge in general.
The vision of ICFOSS is to become a leading research organisation in Free and Open Source model of knowledge development thereby contributing towards sustainable development of society and to stimulate economic development in the region.
The mission of ICFOSS is to promote research and development in the area of Free and Open Source Software and the knowledge development model it puts forward. ICFOSS provide community development programmes, training to employees and young professionals in the field of FOSS technology and conduct national and international seminars and workshops.
